The California High Speed Rail Authority will offset the emissions associated with construction of the rail line, and large-scale plantings of trees have been identified as the method of choice.

Urban Ecos was hired to carry out the following:

• Determine the feasibility of using trees to offset the project's emissions.
• Estimate the number, size, and planting site types of the trees.
• Work with stakeholders to find locations for trees.
• Assist in developing educational materials.
